Backlink vetting checklist
Six checks. Published thresholds. Fail one and the site is out.
Every website is screened against the Miran Gate before it can reach your list, and every site that passes arrives with the data behind each check. Try it yourself below.
Try the gate
Run a site through it.
Pick an example or move the sliders. This is how our default thresholds treat a site — the same logic, simplified.
- 1. Real traffic — passed38,400 visits/mo, trend +9%
- 2. Right countries — passed62% of traffic from your markets
- 3. Topical fit — passedTech & privacy: a natural fit
- 4. Clean outbound links — passed2 commercial links per article, no toxic neighbours
- 5. Not a link farm — passedNamed authors and a real editorial archive
- 6. Direct contact — passedAgreement with the owner or editor
An illustration of our default thresholds. Real reviews also read the site’s recent articles and its full link profile, and thresholds are tuned to each brief.
The thresholds
What each check requires.
These are our defaults. If your brief sets stricter limits — higher traffic, specific countries, a minimum DR — we apply yours on top.
Real traffic
Check 13,000+ organic visits/mo · 12-month trend no worse than −30% · no high-DR, no-traffic domains
- Pass
- 38,400 visits/mo, +9% over 12 months
- Fail
- DR 71 with 410 visits/mo
Right countries
Check 240%+ of organic traffic from your target markets
- Pass
- US 41% · UK 12% · CA 6%
- Fail
- 92% of traffic from outside your markets
Topical fit
Check 3Relevant topic across the 10 most recent articles
- Pass
- Tech, streaming and travel guides
- Fail
- Recipes one day, crypto loans the next
Clean outbound links
Check 4No casino, pharma, adult or loan links · 3 or fewer commercial links per article
- Pass
- 2–3 editorial links per article
- Fail
- Casino and pharma links in recent posts
Not a link farm
Check 5Indexed · named authors · no PBN, expired-domain or sudden-DR-spike footprints
- Pass
- Six-year archive, named editors, indexed
- Fail
- “Write for us” mill, expired-domain rebuild
Direct contact
Check 6Owner or editor confirmed before any order
- Pass

- Fail
- A reseller reselling another reseller
Beyond the six
Signals we read before a site gets near the gate.
Some warning signs don’t fit in a threshold. These are the ones we look for when we read a site.
Sudden authority spikes
A DR that jumped in weeks usually means bought links pointed at the site, not readers.
Anchor text patterns
Outbound anchors that look like a price list of money keywords are a farm signal.
Indexation
We confirm the site, and for insertions the exact page, is indexed in Google.
Ad and affiliate density
Pages buried in ads and affiliate boxes pass little value and look poor to readers.
Recent editorial activity
A real publication keeps publishing. Long silences followed by bursts of guest posts are a warning.
Ownership history
Expired domains rebuilt to sell links are one of the most common footprints in competitive tech niches.
Machines sift, people decide
AI-assisted screening. Human sign-off.
Software pulls the data and flags risks on every site we find. A person on our team reviews every site that passes before it can appear on a client list. Then you review it again.
